ParticipantHi, We are using imap to pick our mail up from our server. We are using Apples Mail program.
We can all mail out with no problems but non of us can get our mail from the server? I can see it in each persons mail directory
/var/spool/imap/users/usernamethe mail is coming in. I can look at it and see that it is new mail I’ve sent from another server. So does any one have an idea why we can’t get it?
This server was move when this started and IP was changed. Evrything else on the systems is working since the move.
Thanks.
Pat.

Participant>When you telnet to port 143 use the IMAP commands to see if you can get mail.
Well I’ve never used the IMAP commands before so I looked around a bit and found a few.
I was able to login after connecting. So I tried the select INBOX command that said it
would tell how many there are among other things.So from what I got below it seems to indicate “0 exist”???
Now I know there are at leat 10 under /var/spool/imap/user
Pointing to the wrong place?a03 select INBOX
* 0 EXISTS
* 0 RECENT
* OK [UIDVALIDITY 1163985358] UID validity status
* OK [UIDNEXT 1] Predicted next UID
* FLAGS (\Answered \Flagged \Deleted \Draft \Seen)
* OK [PERMANENTFLAGS ()] Permanent flags
a03 OK [READ-WRITE] SELECT completed>Does Mail.app work on the server itself?
No it finds one email like it does on my system (forgot to say earlier that there
has always been just one there)Does Squirrelmail work?
Well it connects and I see the same 1 message that I see with Mail.app.
Now this is where I think something has gone wrong. I’ve looked around for that one message
and found it in a directory called /var/mailThis directory has one file for each user. This one email message I see is in the file
with my name (I know it’s reading this file because I changed a words spelling in it
and I see the wrong spelling in Mail.app & SquirrelmailHas the mail directory been set up wrong some where?
Any idea what caused this.
Thanks for the help.
Pat.
