I got an Xserve G5 Dual, 2gb ram with 2 500gb hd modules mirrored.
To backup all this stuff i got an Atto Scsi card ( ExpressPCI UL4S ), a Sony SDX 550V (AIT 2 Turbo 80/208) drive, and Retrospect server.
I can see the drive just fine on system profiler, but retrospect wont see it, at the Device Status screen it sees the cd-rw ID,vendor, product, version and driver, but for the tape drive it sees only the ID.
Since the drive works just fine on windows ( with the driver provided at sony.storagesupport.com ) i figure the problem isnt with the drive itself, since the software works just fine with the cdrw, i figure retrospect isnt the issue, and if the system profiler sees it, nor its the OS, i’ve tried other cables too, soooo what am i missing ? what else could i look for ?
a driver ? but theres none for download avaible at sony’s website, even tought they have some diagnostics software for the mac (and the tests run just fine).
Restrospect’s website also lists the drive as compatible.
I think i’ve covered everything i could. here’s the system profiler info:
