We recently set up a new Xserve and bound it into our active directory.

Every single night since we set it up, it loses its binding. I have to rebind/reboot in order to clear things up.

I remember having this problem with 10.3.x and I can’t remember how I fixed it.

DNS looks ok. Though on the Windows DC, I get a: The session setup from the computer XXX failed to authenticate. The name(s) of the account(s) referenced in the security database is XXX$. The following error occurred:
    Access is denied.

    In the event log.

Does anyone have any pointers to jar my memory? This problem is becoming very frustrating.

We have had some serious problems along the same lines and it has turned out to be because the time on the servers is going outside the kerberos window.
Auto update for the date and time control panel has not been working and the xserves have been losing as much as 6 minutes in two weeks.
Eventually I have had to schedule ntpdate -u cron jobs to ensure the servers keep time with the AD Domain Controller.
Its worth looking at the time on your server before rebooting and rebinding.
