I finally got 10.3.9 server to bind to Active Directory. I was able to autenticate and see users in WGM but not groups. I only saw the default groups. I saw there was an update interval? I also unbound and rebound to AD to see if t would pick them up. No luck…Any ideas?

Also, what do you set Windows SMB to in Sever Admin? Standalone? I tried to get it to work as a domain member and it was a no go.

    Thanks

    Hello Grundy.

Check out this thread and see if it helps you out…

    here…

As for the groups, it can take a long time (like over 24 hours) to populate groups. Go home and get some sleep and check tomorrow. : )

Hope this helps, let us know.

Thanks for the info. Any way to get the groups to replicate right away?

I was told to leave the server at 10.3.9 until all the Tiger/AD issues are resolved (seems to be getting better with 10.4.4)

All the clients are Tiger and logon locally. When i go to connect to the server via “CONNECT TO SERVER” afp://address I get an autenticating message box and it just sits there?

Should I be able to autenticate this way? Or do I HAVE to bind the clients to AD? I thougth the whole point was OD would pass autentication to AD?

Hello again. I’m afraid there is no way to rush the group population that I found.

As for the “Authentication Box” Problem, I believe that I had to set my authentication type to “Standard” in Server Admin/AFP/Settings/Access tab. Why this has to happen I’m not sure, but I think it does solve the problem.

Unfortunately I do not have a server to try it out on at the moment. If it doesn’t work, just change it back and get back to me. I will fidget with one of my servers tomorrow to reproduce the problem if its not solved. : )

    Regards,

Thanks this is going to happen this weekend. tried last weekend and it made a huge mess.

What do you use for your Admin/Windows Settings.. is that set to stand alone server?

I just want the Macs to login locally and be able to connect to the AFP shares on the Xserve while autentication is passed to AD. Not sure if it can work that way
