A weird question that I haven’t found an answer too…..
On a MacOS X Client machine, I can browse the network, and find a list of AppleTalk Zones, and then of individual machines which I can connect to. For most of the machines, clicking the connect button opens the AFP login screen as expected. However, for client machines which have both AFP and FTP enabled, I get an FTP login screen. This only happens on one particular machine. Other machines try to connect to AFP as expected. How does the Finder decide which protocol to use? Is there a way to tell it to use AFP first, FTP second? I’ve tried trashing the finder prefs and that didn’t help. I’ve tried connecting to the FTP-enabled machines with “connect to server” and it works fine. It’s only through the network browsing, clicking connect that it comes up FTP.
