I’m not sure wether to post this in Open Directory forum or here, but I’ll give it a go here.

Setup is as follows: 10.4.3 client logging in a Open Directory account with the home folder on a 10.3.9 XServer Server. 1Gb network connection. (There are several 10.3.9 clients as well)

When the client logs in, the authentication works OK. Looking on the server, the client gets a TGT and a ticket for afp. but then the log in hangs. When I log in under a local account and in a terminal-session log in with the user name, the log in hangs as well. But when I try it a second time immediately I can log in. It seem to be a problem with the auto mount of the home folder.

I tried moving his folder to a different location (less characters in the path now) and made a separate mount record for that, still not working. Made sure there are no spaces in the path for the home folder, no luck.

I then re installed the client (from that machine (10.4.3) I cannot log in under any network-based account, but from all the other machines (all 10.3.9) I can). After the erase-and-install it seemed to be working great, but after 5 or so log ins, the log in process hanged again and all following log ins hang.

I now moved the account local to make sure the user can work, but I want this problem solved. Does anyone know of any problems in this area with a 10.3.9 Server and 10.4(3) client?
