I just completed updating 50 machines from 10.3.5 to 10.3.9 and all are working except one. We are using OD so the user’s home directories are on the OD server. On this one particular machine, when a network user tries to log on, the blue “logging in” candy cane is displayed and that is as far as it gets. No timeout, no error messages anywhere, just the candy cane.
Here is some additional information that might be significant. I found the following error in the system.log:
Jun 2 08:26:09 FrontDesk-Computer /System/Library/LoginPlugins/MCX.loginPlugin/Contents/MacOS/MCXCompositor: TCompositor::AddPrefsFile() : unable to read pList from “mcx_UserData_0”.
I have tried everything I can think of (restarting, fsck, repair permissions, unbinding and rebinding the server) and still no network user can log on with that machine but can with any other machine. This is very frustrating. Can someone think of something else I might try? TIA.
