Using AD plugin and having problems where Macs are randomly not authenticating against our Active directory. Error appears to around not finding local DC. When I use a sniffer appear to find every remote domain we have. Even when I select prefer this domain server problems persist and I get regular localhost /System/Library/LoginPlugins/MCX.loginPlugin/Contents/MacOS/MCXCacher: DSOpenNode(): dsOpenDirNode(“/Active Directory/ourdomain.com”) == -14002 problem.
After ten minutes AD authentication possible, assume service sorts itself out.

I getting this issue now, running 10.3.9 I’d roll out 10.4 but that has boot problems whenyou bind a client to OD and AD. Whats with this MCXCacher error I’m getting them too…

I have exactly the same problem with two Xserves bound to two different Win2k domains. The binding process works great, but after a reboot it takes 1-2 minutes before the ADplugin successfully connects back to the AD. I get random errors with “Cannot locate nearest domain controller” or “bad credentials” against the domain controller. 2 minutes later everything is fine. The weird thing is that network connectivity and kerberos are fine, only directory service is reporting -14002 errors.

I have ruled out DNS and network, and the DS debugging does not indicate any other problems. It seems that the ADplugin periodic process finally sorts itself out. This seems a pretty serious bug.

“Me too” replies actually make finding the answer even harder.
