Is there a Terminal command that will let me start an application or service from the Terminal window?

I use Timbuktu (TB2) to control apx 50 Macs. When OSX boots, Timbuktu Pro starts a service that allows me to connect remotely to the Logon screen and all is well.

But often after running a software or security update that patches the OS and requires a restart, the TB2 service will not start after that restart. I have to have someone physically go to the machine, log in, and boot the TB2 app. This then starts the service and I can once again get in. If I could start this service some how from the Terminal using Remote login life would be much simpler. Thanks for any and all help!

Very interesting. That does look like the right direction! Thanks!

    Hi,

If you go ‘cat /Library/StartupItems/TimbuktuStartup/TimbuktuStartup’ you will see the exact command required.

    '/Applications/Utilities/Timbuktu 6/Timbuktu Pro.app/Contents/SharedSupport/Host Relauncher' '/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp' '/Applications/Utilities/Timbuktu 6/Timbuktu Pro.app/Contents/SharedSupport/Timbuktu Extension'

and be very careful to keep those quotes in place.
