Hello!

I have two Xserve´s (G5 SP, 10.3.4), one set up as an OD master, the other as replica. The OD is only used to store group and MCX information (the groups are populated with ActiveDirectory users). My clients are set up to look for user info first to the AD Domain, then to the XServe OD master.

Now my question: How do I set up my clients and the servers so that when the OD master fails, the clients autmatically look for the OD replica on server two for their group/MCX records?
I know I could promote the replica server to master and then give it the master servers IP adress, but is there a way the failover would work without human interaction?

P.S: This whole topic got me thinking about “teaming” the two Enet-interfaces on the XServe so they would failover automatically, too… is that possible (like on some Windoze Servers?)
