We have upgraded our OSX server from OS 10.1 to 10.3. Out of the box we have not been successful with Postfix and sending any test emails. I am wondering if there is a checklist or tutorial for a basic OS 10.3 email setup? We think we have Server Admin and Workgroup Manager setup correctly for an email account, but we have no way of actually knowing.

FYI… all of our websites operate fine with the current OS10.3.3 server configuration.

    Further info for above…..

When we send test emails this is the error message that is sent back from Postfix:

This is the Postfix program at host mail.mylowcarbuniverse.com.

I’m sorry to have to inform you that the message returned

    The Postfix program

    Just one more FYI……

We have about 10 virtual domains hosted on our server. So they are listed in the Server Admin/mail/advanced settings; “Local host aliases” area. Is this correct?

    Joel,

That is correct no command lines, no config editing. In the Workgroup Manager, we have enabled mail for the user (mylowcarb) and added the name of the mail server (mail.mylowcarbuniverse.com).

In Server admin we added the local host alias: mail.mylowcarbuniverse.com,
    Authentication SMTP has nothing selected.

    Email address: [email protected]

About as basic as you can get.

It looks like the well maybe dry on my thread. We still can’t use the PostFix Mail Server. If anyone out there feels they are knowledgeable with 10.3 and troubleshooting Postfix. Please contact me and maybe you can consult for us.
