    I have Postfix up on 10.2.6.

    Using the UW IMAP server.

    It won’t authenticate from my IMAP client using my OSX username/password. What username/password do i use?

    I set up a cram-md5 database file since I noticed using telnet that IMAP was advertising cram-md5 and my email client also has an option for it.

    I changed the password in /etc/passwd to “!” from “*”. Figured WTH.

    I put a plain text password in /etc/cram-md5.pwd.

    It still won’t authenticate.
