Word98 doc loaded from XServer won’t re-save to server.

Can anyone help? Problem Documents retrieved off the XServer in to Microsoft Word98, on a computer running Mac Classic (under MacOSX10.2.6), will not save back to the XServer but instead give an error message and changes the file name to " Word Work File D2". The original file disappears. Our documents are very important and hard to replace. What is the problem? I can verify the problem on multiple OSX machine. Environment We have an XServer with the latest OS 10.2.6. Our workstations are thirty MacOS9.2.2, Seven Mac OSX10.2.6 and eight Windows 2000 and XPs. Thanks.
