Windows roaming profiles won’t work on different machines

Hi!

I'm stuck on a major issue here.

Last week, I migrated a client who had 50% os 9 machines and 50% WinXP machines with no server or domain whatsoever.

We installed an XServe w/ OS X Server unlimited (10.4.5)

We installed brand new iMac G5s

We recycled the fastest Mac machines of the old park to 10.4.5 using a master image and NetRestore.

We migrated all personal info on the OS 9 Macs to their new Mac roaming accounts (they don't really roam, it just makes backup a lot easier and yes, they only synch at log-on log-out cycles as well as uses only Entourage clients so email is backed up)

I had an MCSE colleague do the local account to OD roaming account migration and domain binding himself on WinXP clients.

I'm an ACTC myself.

We knew we would have to play musical chair with the Windows clients as well (because of new PC purchases as well) but we decided to migrate user info on their current machines prior to installing the new ones since we tought all we would have to do would be to log out of the previous Wintel boxes (who are not being thrown out anyway but repurposed from production to accounting), bring in the new Wintel boxes, sign them on the domain and login. First it won't allow login and then if we try to unbind, restart, bind they won't bind to the domain anymore...

I gave a call to Apple techical support and opened a ticket, they told me to try a few tricks:

1-)Search for .ssh in users' folders on server and rename that folder to .ssh_old. Restart Windows boxes, try to log in.

Problem is I can't seem to find any .ssh in the Users' first folder levels wich seems weird to me.

2-)Try to bind in from a brand new Windows XP install.

Haven't tried that one yet since my MCSE tells me it's not worth a try, the issue is not on the client side.

3-)Call Microsoft for support on binding WinXP clients to a PDC.

This pisses me off a bit since the server is 'Apple' Tiger Server not 'Microsoft' Windows 2x Server so Apple should be adressing the issue.

4-) Validate my DNS

forward and reverse work perfectly and are on Tiger Server in question

5-) Validate WINS service

activated as a WINS server and router set accordingly (Linksys RV0041)

6-) Validate DHCP service

inactive on Tiger Server, handled by the router and DNS entries are Tiger Server as Primary DNS Server and router as secondary.

I'm out of options here.

Any ideas?
