Third party monitoring

We have a corporate server setup with BMC Patrol as our monitoring system. This system has a logparser agent that can log on to our mac servers (via ssh) and read a log file that we create using a script. We have not yet started the process of creating the script for monitoring. We would like to monitor a few services (FileWave, OD master/replica and perhaps SUS(Software Update Server)). And of course diskspace, CPU load and hardware status (heat, fans, powersupplies etc) I imagine using bash tools for monitoring the services, that they are up and working. The same for disk space and hardware status. Now to the question. Have anybody done something similar? What are your experiences. I will continue to contribute the status in this thread but I would like your input. Thanks /Håkan
