Taking a stab at Finder/ACLs issue

So after a user started whinging at how slow 10.4 was compared to 10.3, (he was the last to get upgraded), I decided to look at the 10.4 ACLs issue again. When a user is logged in with a network account and mounts an SMB share, ACLs are enabled, and perfomance is slow. When a user is logged in with a local account and mounts the same share ACLs are NOT enabled, and performance is nice and zippy. If you want to look at this in your own environment use fsaclctl -p /Volumes/yourmountpoint to show acl support for a given share. Does anyone know of a way to disable ACL support on a client so this doesn't happen?
