I find that I need a nightly script to get the serial numbers from the drives mounted in my xserve. I thought the following would work:
system_profiler SPIDEDataType | grep Serial
but it only reports info about the drive in bay 1! I have a drive in bay as well. When I run the GUI system Profiler app I see both drives, but
system_profiler SPIDEDataType
only sees the drive in bay 1. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
