Software Update Service to 10.3.9

Hi Everyone, After recently installing an intell X-serve 10.4.8 and configuring the software update service, I began to manually setup updates using the defaults write command on my clients. 10.4 machines work beautifully but 10.3.9 machines (which are all my production boxes 30+) do not work at all. I have contacted Apple premium support and they had no idea. Is there a way I can get my 10.3.9 machines to point to my local update server?
