slapcat fails when archiving OD master

I have a problem with backing up our OD master database. It seems that slapcat segfaults in the middle of dumping the database and of course the dump is incomplete. Has anyone seen this happening? I found a few posts in Apple mailing lists that suggests that turning of SSL would help. We are using EMC Networker for backups and the same segfault happens when Networker is trying to perform the pre-backup commands. System info: Mac OS X Server 10.4.11, XServe G5, OD Master and bound to AD Thanks in advance!
