Setting up a secondary DNS zone

i work for a digital web agency and we have our primary DNS server setup on a Linux box. overall we have no problems with it however from time to time it can go down which causes lots of problems. I've been thinking about potentially setting up a Secondary slave DNS server on my network but using the 10.6 server box i currently have setup. is this possible if my primary DNS server is on a linux box? many thanks in advance! -s
