Remote XP Machine Connecting to Leopard Server Standard

Hello I am looking to have a remote XP machine connect via SMB to a Leopard Server Standard. If I go to the RUN command prompt and type in my remote ip \\xxx.xx.xxx.x or \\xxx.xx.xxx.x\test , the server answers with a login credentials screen. No matter what I type, I cannot get a user to login. Any basic things I am missing for the Samba shares to work? AFP on a remote Mac works just fine. Thanks
