Xserve 10.3.9 booted from Tiger Server install CD disk 1. Server Assistant running on a 10.4.2 iMacG5. Will not accept first 8 digits of serial number. I'm logged in as root on the iMacG5, I have R/W access to ServerSetup in /System/Library, I can ping the IP of the server given in Server Assistant (correct hardware address) and I am using the Xserve's built in enthernet connection.
I'm at the misery stage - and I've got to upgrade this server, test log-ins, build master desktop images, transfer them to the server then net-install 60 macs for 1.5 weeks time.
