OD/AD Home Folders

We are setting up home folders on a Mac OSX ODM with AD and a magic triangle. We have run this setup for a year, and everything worked great. The problem is we installed a new XServe RAID and have our home folders on that. I used to be able to go into WGM and and click Create Home and it worked. I remember when we originally set this up, we had a similar issue, and it had to do with a problem in OSX that if the home folder was not on the boot volume, then it didn't work. I remember creating a link (symbolic I think) to get around this, but now I can't get it to work on the new server. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Thanks?
