Nested management groups

Hi, We're just testing out some stuff on 10.4.8, we'd like to have a bunch of users in various management groups but with certain preferences such as PHDs applying to all the groups. In order to accomplish this we have set up the individual groups and then nested them within a group that applies the default prefs. This does not seem to be working though. The users get the overall prefs if they select the parent group on login, but only the sub prefs if they select the child group.
