mounting home dirs via ldap and tiger

Hi, after struggling with mounting home dirs for a week i found this... http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?10100106.htm says it wont work. ARRggh! Is it likely to be fixed in 10.4.7? can anyone explain why? any workarounds? l.
