Job Ad: Macintosh Support SpeciaIist (Permanent, Full-Time Position)

This is a full time position for the role of a support speciaIist who is to provide a consistently high-level of support for the existing client base of an established consultancy firm. She/He will need to occasionally be available for last-minute emergencies as well as serve as an ongoing information resource with regard to computers and issues surrounding them. This position will operate as a member of a support team. [b]Responsibilities:[/b] • Support Macintosh computers for corporate and creative clients • Provide the highest level of customer service at all times • Respond to and resolve support requests • Administer phone support when required • Be available for some support outside of normal work hours • Install, upgrade, and maintain software, hardware and peripherals • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems • Troubleshoot network and remote access connectivity problems • Produce documentation as needed • Train end-users as needed [b]Required Finesse:[/b] • Posses both the desire and ability to exceed expectations • Willingness to master just about anything • Commitment to organization and attention to detail • Prioritize and address multiple tasks in a highly dynamic work environment • Follow through on support requests in a timely manner, collaborating with other team members as needed • Work independently as well as with other members of a team • Communicate technical issues in non-technical language • Willingness to travel occasionally • Infinite patience and steadfast diplomacy • Exceptional communication, investigation, and interpersonal skills [b]Desired Qualifications:[/b] • Ability to troubleshoot Mac software & hardware problems • Ability to configure and troubleshoot Mac remote connectivity solutions, including TCP/IP, VPN, etc. • Proficiency with: [list] [*]Mac utilities [*]IMAP and POP email clients [*]Microsoft Office, Web browsers, Keynote, Adobe Applications, Final Cut Pro, Meeting Maker, and FileMaker [*]Palm/Blackberry and Mobile devices and integration with Macs [/list] • Familiarity with: [list] [*]Remote query and control tools [*]Software distribution tools [*]Enterprise backup solutions [*]Encryption and security tools [/list] [b]Helpful Qualifications:[/b] • Experience supporting clients either in a system administrator role or a help desk position • Ability to automate system administration functions using Unix shell scripts, Perl, Python, and/or AppleScript • Familiarity with FreeBSD and Linux • Familiarity with Windows This position is based in Ontario, Canada (Toronto or Ottawa), and a competitive total compensation plan commensurate with the individual talents being brought to the table by the successful applicant will be offered.
