IPAliases not working?

I have an IPalises file set up, and was working last week, I have installed panther client, and now IPalises is not working. I have it turned on in /etc/hostconfig and I have no changed the format (only copy and paste) and they are not working. Any one have any ideas? It's not a complicated process so I don't get why it's not working. . .
