IP over Firewire on 10.2.8 Server

I cannot seem to find any documentation on IP over Firewire for OS X Server 10.2.x (in my case 10.2.8.) The questions I have are as follows: 1) 1GHz MDD FW800 system - only the FW800 port can be enabled for IP over FW. Should all FW ports be configurable? 2) 466MHz G4 with Lacie FW800 PCI HBA 3ports. Only the onboard FW400 ports are configurable. Should I be able to configure FW ports on 3rd party PCI FW HBAs? Does anybody know where I can find out the specifics of IP over Firewire? ADC website only mentions about the preview release of IPoverFW which is for OS X client. Thanks.
