iLife ’09 – Where to add the 4.2gig iLife package?

I tried adding iLife '09 to my build yesterday. iLife apps were installed, but they have generic app icons and they crash immediately at launch. I had put the entire iLife pgk file in my custom installs folder- on the assumption that it shouldn't go in the 'Base Updates' since it wasn't an update. Does anyone have experience with this?
