Hardware RAID & OS X Server

Has anyone tried any of the hardware RAID PCI-based solutions out there yet? I'm interested in finding out specifically what user impressions are of the Acard RAID card. It looks pretty straight forward and from what I saw in the manual, it looks like OS X sees it as a single hardware volume rather than a RAIDed volume which allows you to partition it up as you wish which cannot be done with software RAID. Any comments? Cheers.
