Flip4Mac and Final Cut Studio, Firefox Gibberish, and Office Database Errors Galore!

Hi all, Brief background of my lab environment: I manage video editing suites and we've seen some problems recently (past 3-5 months) with respect to the previously listed programs. Issue #1: We use Flip4Mac HD and Final Cut Studio (includes Motion, Final Cut Pro, Compressor, etc.) in our suites. Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem now where Flip4Mac HD activation prevents regular users from opening Motion. I determined this was caused by Flip4Mac because running the uninstaller fixes the issue instantly (does not require a restart). The reason why I'm positing it here in the InstaDMG forum versus contacting Flip4Mac (which I've done) is because a regular install via a ginormous FCP package and a F4M package works fine. It's only when F4M HD is activated does the problem occur, and even then it's only sporadic. We've tried to do a packaged activation (which doesn't work because telestream is nuts about licensing) and even a manual post-installation activation to no success. At this time we've basically uninstalled Flip4Mac completely until such time that we can figure out how to get it working nicely with Motion. I can probably provide way more information on this issue but unless you're running into it, it's just fluff. Issue #2: I use a cfg file to manage Firefox preferences. However, we've noticed on some machines for some users, that when they open up Firefox, their entire session is in gibberish. Not just a website, but anything short of the menu bars. Even the "About Firefox" pop up window is written in gibberish. The way to fix this is for the user to just close and re-open Firefox. Unfortunately, that's the kind of bandaid fix we're trying to shy away from. The reason I'm posting it on this forum is because I'm curious what the lot of you'se are doing for your managed preferences for machines. It seems like the cleanest way to do it - all your bookmarks are set as well as suppressing the 'you've upgraded to the latest version of firefox!' tab on first load. Issue #3: I've noticed on some machines that Office 2008 gives me an error regarding a corrupt database and telling me to repair it. At this time, we're pre-setting the preferences purely via User Templates. I took a look at the preference manifest but it doesn't have a lot of the selections we customize in it (unless i'm completely off on how to read it). For example, we would like the Format Bar to show up by default for all users and all programs, we don't want the new user set up thing to show up, and we don't want the update microsoft window to show up. Are we just asking for too much? Major thanks for anyone that read through this whole schpeal and my apologies for monopolizing the last couple minutes of your day! B
