External access to WevServer document folder

I have given my administrator username and password to my web developer so he could update some pages I previously have on a Windows box. When he logs into the Xserver, he is unable to access the /webserver/documents folder, but can see web folders for the user "Administrator". How can someone ftp in and see where the default web pages at /webserver/documents ?????
