“Empty” Share Visible. Safe to remove on basic/simple install?
So I've setup OS 10.5 Server on a dual 2.66 Ghz Mac Pro. I followed the "simple" route as this seemed the fastest way to get file sharing services up. I've created 3 or 4 users. Whenever one of those accounts mounts a volume a volume labeled "empty" is visible. Googling the issue will tell you that you can remove it by deleting /var for each user with the Workgroup Manager...
Is this a safe and accepted practice? Or will it result in me running my Simple install off of Apples 'rails'?
Also, as an aside, how many of you use an OS Partition and a Data Partition? I've reinstalled 10.5.6 server more times than I'd care to admit in the last 2 days, and am lamenting the fact that I didn't partition as such. Is this a best practice, or are there any drawbacks to this sort of partition scheme?
