DNS & Windows 2000

I'm running DNS on my W2K machines. When I installed my XServe I gave it a host name sa-xserve, and pointed to my DNS Server. Per server status I do not have a dns name, nor does an entry show up on my DNS server. I can get to websites like www.apple.com so I must be getting some translation I can ping to the ip-address of internal servers, but not via their dns names. I've searched every forum and newsgroup I can find and I seem to be the only one that has this problem. Is it so simple I've missed something? thanks, ~laura
