DMG containers

If I put an .app into a DMG container, will it automatically add it to Applications? I want to add CoRD to my build, but it's in a zip file which turns out to be an .app. I know InstaDMG can't handle this without it being in a DMG container (the way FireFox and other app installers are setup). I'll test it out on my own later but wanted to ask here as well.
