Can’t login into openldap

Apple OS 10.2.6 Server. Default install then applied system updates. Hello, I open WorkGroup Manager then I choose /LDAPv3/-ipaddr- Then it asks me to login. I type my administrator name and password. Workgroup manager replies back that the login information is not valid for this server. So I try logging in as root. I get the same alert. I then try it logging in remotely. Still no luck there. It seems that I don't have permission to get into the server. The openldap service has definitly started. If someone can tell me how to fix this it is greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance :)
