Apple Mail Server: /var/mail/ with IMAP

An article on AFP548: [i:fae9dce261]Mac OS X Server 10.2's Apple Mail Server and UNIX' /var/mail[/i:fae9dce261] describes using /var/mail as a mail drop for AMS. Mail from this directory is imported when log in thru POP or IMAP. My question to you all is: [b:fae9dce261]Has anyone actually tried this with IMAP?[/b:fae9dce261] We have this working, but mostly in theory, mail is imported when users log in, but not [b:fae9dce261]while[/b:fae9dce261] they are logged in - unless they switch mail boxes or otherwise perturb their connection, mail just piles up in /var/mail. Has anyone else tried this?
