Apache bunged in 10.28->10.3.3 update

I did the upgrade in place from 10.2.8 to Server 10.3 and then 10.3.3. Alas, my nicely working Apache/PHP/MySQL set-up didn't make it gracefully. Web server won't start. Aside from David OíDonnell's article, can anyone offer tips on how to straighten this out? Sigh, I had a nice set-up [PHP 4.3.0], even an SSL certificate. It's all still there. Tell me I don't have to play Sisyphus and roll this rock up the hill again.
