AFP sharing weirdness…
So maybe I am just missing something but I was under the impression that when a user copies a file from a AFP server share to their desktop or local drive, the permissions of the file/folder the user downloads get the owner/group settings of the folder the user is downloading to?
Example:
Client machine
User: clientUser
Group: staff
Downloads a folder from an AFP share
folder: TestFolder
Owner: ServerAdmin - R/W
Group: Admin - R
Everyone - R
Target folder on the client machine
Folder: TargetFolder
Owner: clientUser - R/W
Group: staff - R
Everyone - R
Shouldn't the permissions on the TestFolder after download be:
Owner: clientUser - R/W
Group: staff - R
Everyone - R
If so, I have something going wrong on my AFP server...
When my client users download a file from the server to a location on their machine that match the situation I described above, they get only read access for Owner Group and Everyone?
If I am just being dense and missing something, could someone please explain it to me?
I dont' have ACL's for any of my shares.
Running OS X Server 10.4.6 and Client 10.4.6
Thanks in advance for any help...
