AD created home folder

I'm trying to understand why when I set up a home folder for a user in Active Directory it does not populate the correct folders, i.e. Documents, Pictures, Movies, etc. My home folders are stored on an AFP sharepoint on OS X Server and the Domain Admins group has read/write permissions to create the top level user folder. I have no problems logging in with an AD account, only that the home folder leaves out everything except Library and Desktop. I understand that I can run the createhomedir -s -a command on OS X Server and it will create the proper home folders for any users in AD that do not currently have a home folder. Is there any way to avoid this step? I'm looking for home folder creation from one source (on AD) vs running the createhomedir -s -a command every time a new user is added.
