AD Computer ID vs. OS X Computer Name

Hi, When binding a 10.3.9 client to AD I have a Computer record pre-created in AD for the Mac to bind to. The Computer ID used in the AD Plug-in is the same as the record created in AD. Does the Mac's Computer Name (used in Sharing) have to be the same as the Computer ID used for the AD Plug-in? Thanks, Mark
