A general question for users experienced in server 10.3. A client running an OS 10.3.9 server & clients along with a MS 2003 Small Business Server wants the Mac users bound to AD on the MS server for security purposes. The OS X server is only used for file sharing to both Mac and Windows clients. They want Mac home folders stored locally, not on the servers. I've read about 10.4 server and discovered this isn't very difficult but haven't found info about the correct procedure in 10.3. Is it possible or advisable in server 10.3.9 with AD to have local home folders? Also, should I refrain from binding the OS X server to AD? I've looked through both Apple Training Series books on Server and System Admin and looked through the AD integration white paper from this site. (Fantastic site buy the way) Either I'm missing it or local home folders just aren't advisable in 10.3. My terminal skills are modest but I'm willing to dig deep for information. Any help or guidance in setting this up would be appreciated.
