10.2.5 server update, lookupd not working

Howdy, I just completed 10.2.5 server update, and now I can't log in via the console. It is as if I've changed my passwd to some unknown phrase. I am able to ssh in, which is all the more puzzling. I've tried changing the password, and then logging in on the console, but no luck. If I look in /var/log/system.log I see this error every time I try to log in locally. lookupd[305]: getpwnam_A - can't decode lookup value Any ideas? I've only got the one administration acct on the box, and would hate to re-install, as I just completed that, and was patching the box up to date. Any clue as to why this happened? ST additional info, this is pretty much the sys log from boot until this moment.
