SpamAssassin 3.0 is out

New version of SpamAssassin released

SA 3.0 brings new features like better Bayes filtering and support for SPF and SURBL. Learn about thenew features or just go the main SA website. Also note the new logo! Not quite as cheesy.

I hope to update the spam/virus controls with postfix and OS X Server article soon with support for SA 3.0. Since amavisd has been prepped to work with it for some time it shouldn’t be a problem.

  • i just jumped into cpan and had it "update" Mail::SpamAssassin

    amavis still works and all seems well

    sudo perl -MCPAN -e shell
    cpan> install Mail::SpamAssassin

    • I followed your instructions. The installation seemed to go smoothly. But my
      email is still showing Spamassassin 2.63 in the headers. What am I missing to
      tell it to use the new version instead?

      Thanks.

  • Good to know, although keep in mind that amavisd calls SA direct and
    doesn’t use spamd.

  • So no issues? I’m building a mail server with this stuff for the first (sort of) time, and I’m wondering if SA 3.0 will be a problem. Of course, I’m still stuck on figuring out how to install amavis-new 2.1.2 (or whether to…) so…. Any tips welcome!
